The basement. A room where things go when they shouldn't be in the "living space". A dungeon of crap. If we didn't have a small food storage and a drink fridge in there I'm pretty sure it'd look like one of those houses on Hoarders, Buried Alive.
I have to do something. With a 17 month old that's a really hard thing to do.
Option 1: Take a day off of work and clean it.
Honestly, I'd love to do that, I think I could get a lot done. The downside is J works right next door to the basement so my banging and moving things around would really disturb him. No go.
Option 2: peacemeal cleaning?
What if I stay up an extra half hour or hour each night after O goes to bed (THANK GOODNESS he is going to bed on his own now) and clean parts of it. Would that work? Would I stick to it?
I don't know, but I have to try, the clutter is driving me up the wall. I don't even know what's in the back corner; what's the point in storing it if I don't know what it is? How can it have any value to my daily life? Time to purge!
I started last night, spent about 30 minutes and wow, what an improvement already! First step: organize my tools. I got about halfway through. Tonight I'll finish. It actually felt good.
Can I get the rest of the house clean following this model too?
